What is NFP Facility?


The National Forest Programme Facility (Facility) is a funding mechanism and an information created in 2002 as a response to intergovernmental dialogue and resolutions on forests, which recognizes the important role that national forest programmes (nfp) play in addressing forest sector issues.

The Facility supports active stakeholder participation in the development and implementation of nfps with a focus on capacity building and information sharing at country level, through provision of grants directly stakeholders in partner countries. It also serves as a comprehensive information services on nfps worldwide. The Facility, hosted by FAO in Rome, has been operational since mid 2002 and has established partnerships with 69 countries and 4 sub-regional organizations globally. Among which, 14 are in Asia and the Pacific Region.


Facility Objective


The overall objective of the Facility is to assist countries in developing and implementing national forest programmes (nfps) that effectively address local needs and national priorities, and reflect internationally agreed principles. Informed and broad participation of all relevant stakeholders is the key to achieving this objective.
